DR. WANTANEE SUNTIKUL
Food has always
been part of the story.
Growing up in northeastern Thailand, Dr. Suntikul helped her grandfather catch fish and learned to cook with her mother. By the age of six, she was already making green curry and papaya salad.
That lifelong interest became part of her academic work: exploring food’s role in culture, society, politics, and tourism.
Her original site identifies her as an Instructional Associate Professor in Event Management at Texas A&M University’s Arch H. Aplin III ’80 Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism.
Why this project exists.
Gastrodiplomacy shares Dr. Suntikul’s research and related news, and draws attention to food-based organisations and restaurants that encourage cultural understanding.
The project is grounded in the belief that food can promote peace and equity, support disadvantaged groups, and connect people across cultures.
